Eight Years of Enforced Disappearance: Where Is Aisha Al-Marzooq?

Together for Justice expresses deep concern over the continued enforced disappearance of Aisha Al-Marzooq, a young Saudi woman who has been missing since her arrest in October 2017.
Al-Marzooq was detained at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh upon her arrival from Sweden and was immediately transferred to an undisclosed location. For eight years, no official information has been released regarding her whereabouts, legal status, or health condition — a blatant violation of both Saudi law and international human rights conventions.
Her case stands as a stark example of the Saudi authorities’ systematic use of enforced disappearance as a tool of repression, particularly against women and those perceived as critics or dissidents. Detaining a woman for nearly a decade without charge, trial, or contact with her family is not only a breach of justice but an ongoing crime of inhumanity.
Together for Justice calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately disclose the fate and location of Aisha Al-Marzooq, ensure her safety, and release her unconditionally. Together for Justice further urges the United Nations, the European Union, and all concerned international bodies to press Saudi Arabia to end its pattern of enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions.
Justice for Aisha Al-Marzooq is long overdue — and silence is no longer an option.
