Together for Justice Condemns Arbitrary Detention of Saudi Blogger Fady Ibrahim Al-Nasser

Together for Justice strongly condemns the ongoing arbitrary detention of Saudi blogger Fady Ibrahim Al-Nasser. Arrested in November 2019 for exercising his right to freedom of expression, Al-Nasser remains detained without trial, a blatant violation of his basic human and legal rights.
Fady Ibrahim Al-Nasser’s arrest stemmed from a tweet in which he called for measures to address the rampant unemployment issue in Saudi Arabia. Instead of considering his constructive criticism, the Saudi authorities perceived his peaceful expression as a threat, leading to his unwarranted arrest. Al-Nasser was detained without a warrant, and since then, he has been subjected to severe human rights abuses, reflecting the broader grim reality faced by prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia.
For nearly five years, Al-Nasser has been denied his fundamental rights, including the right to a fair trial and access to legal representation. The Saudi authorities have refused to allow him to communicate with a lawyer, further exacerbating his unjust and inhumane treatment. This case exemplifies the oppressive environment in Saudi Arabia, where freedom of speech is systematically suppressed, and those who dare to voice dissent are met with harsh reprisals.
Together for Justice urges the international community to take immediate action to pressure the Saudi government to release Fady Ibrahim Al-Nasser and all other prisoners of conscience. We call on human rights organisations, activists, and concerned citizens worldwide to raise their voices against this gross injustice and demand accountability from the Saudi authorities.
Fady Ibrahim Al-Nasser’s ordeal is a stark reminder of the urgent need to uphold and protect human rights globally. Together for Justice remains committed to advocating for the rights of those unjustly detained and will continue to work tirelessly towards a world where freedom of expression is respected and protected.
